Our Philosophy

Sonder exists to help people form meaningful connections and move forward through relationships built on trust, intent and mutual respect.

To make this possible, we ask everyone using Sonder to contribute to a respectful and safe environment. These guidelines explain what behavior is expected and what actions may lead to moderation or removal from the platform.

Using Sonder means agreeing to follow these principles.

1. Be authentic

People are often more than what they show on the surface. Sonder encourages authenticity and honesty so that others can understand who you truly are - not just your title or achievements.

Please represent yourself truthfully and avoid impersonation, misleading information, or fake profiles. Authentic profiles help create better connections and make the platform more valuable for everyone.

Users should not:

  • impersonate another person or organization
  • misrepresent their identity, qualifications, or experience
  • create fake or misleading profiles
  • create multiple accounts to manipulate the system

Authentic representation helps ensure that connections made on Sonder are meaningful and trustworthy.

2. No harassment, abuse, or discrimination

The following behavior is not allowed on Sonder:

  • harassment or bullying
  • threats or intimidation
  • hate speech or discrimination
  • targeting individuals based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, nationality, or similar characteristics
  • repeated unwanted contact after someone has asked you to stop

Content or behavior that promotes violence, harassment, or discrimination may result in immediate removal.

3. Be respectful and constructive

Treat others with respect in all interactions. Sonder is designed for collaboration, networking and meaningful exchange. Conversations should remain constructive and considerate even when people disagree.

Users should avoid behavior that could make others feel unsafe, uncomfortable or disrespected.

Examples of respectful behavior include:

  • communicating honestly and politely
  • respecting different opinions and backgrounds
  • interacting with others in good faith

4. Respect privacy and personal data

Users must respect the privacy of others.

You should not:

  • share private conversations without permission
  • publish someone else's personal information without consent
  • upload personal data about other people without a lawful basis
  • attempt to collect or scrape user data from the platform

5. No illegal or harmful activity

The platform may not be used for illegal or harmful purposes.

Examples include:

  • fraud or scams
  • distributing illegal content
  • promoting illegal activities
  • attempts to hack or disrupt the service
  • misuse of the platform to manipulate, deceive or exploit other users

6. Responsible use of AI features

Sonder includes AI-powered features to help users discover insights and connections.

Users should not misuse these features by:

  • presenting AI-generated content as verified fact when it is not
  • using AI to harass, deceive, or manipulate others
  • attempting to reverse engineer or exploit AI systems

AI suggestions are intended to support users, not replace human judgment.

7. Professional and responsible networking

Because Sonder is designed for professional and personal growth, users should interact responsibly.

Users should avoid:

  • aggressive promotion or spam
  • unsolicited mass messaging
  • deceptive job or investment offers
  • misleading opportunities or partnerships

Opportunities shared on the platform should be genuine and transparent.

Moderation Policy

To protect the community, Sonder may take action when these guidelines or our Terms of Service are violated. Moderation actions are designed to maintain a safe and respectful environment.
